This song is about the fairytale 'Cinderella'. The name of this tale in German is 'Aschenputtel' and that's where the title of the song comes from. ''Asche' means 'ash(es)' in German and Cinderella due to her arduous work is always covered in dust.

**Again, we are not trying to interprete the song. It surely carries a deeper meaning that what we can see just reading it. The translation of the song can have changes since some parts are not very clear for us. The part of "I look like an idiot" doesn't have a subject here so it can be also "you". Why we think it's a first person? Because the second person "you" appears in the lyrics.
